Blueside v Redside
I'm beginning to think that American political culture has been taken over by hip hop artists.
Here's Ed Schultz, the MSNBC talker, mouthing defiance at Rush Limbaugh this evening after Rush mocked him in the afternoon:
Rush, I got a challenge for you. Why don't you just come on this program? Come on, buddy, you're audience would love it. Radio or TV, and debate me about anything. Let's see how good you are, Rush, one-on-one, let's go buddy. You know, be safe as can be. Heck, MSNBC, we got HD, we got the wide screen: you'll fit in there just fine... Hell I'm doing you a favor. I'm giving you ratings. I'm promoting you right here, Rush, c'mon let's get after it. Your audience would love it. Your audience hates me. Your audience would love to see you just stick it to me. But you won't do it. Cause you're a coward, Rush. I've always thought that. Always thought that.
Inside the ellipses, Schultz took time to congratulate himself on his success in the talk radio business since his distant days in Fargo, North Dakota. This is one of those moments where I begin to think that American political culture has been taken over by hip hop artists. What I can' t figure out though is which of these two characters is the Notorious B.I.G. and which is 2Pac.
