Beck Raises $10K for Chamber of Commerce

Politico reports:

Glenn Beck appears to have overwhelmed the servers at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce by calling for his radio listeners to make today the “largest day of fundraising for the Chamber of Commerce, ever.”

The call was in reaction to Democrats’ accusations that the Chamber has been paying for ads attacking Democrats with foreign money. He kicked off the giving by donating $10, 000 on the air.

The Blaze’s Jonathon Seidl reported the Chamber e-mailed in response to Beck’s call, asking donors to use a different link that was better equipped to handle the high volume of transactions.

“I would like this to be the largest day of fundraising for the Chamber of Commerce ever,” Beck said. While calling for action on air Thursday morning, Beck walked his readers through the donation process and pledged a $10,000 gift to the organization.
“Let’s break all records. Let’s show these people that we actually believe in something different than what Barack Obama and Joe Biden are saying,” Beck said, after explaining that the Chamber is “fighting” for small businesses.
“They are us,” he said of the Chamber. “Put your money where your mouth is.”

Beck noted during the show that he was not a member of the U.S. Chamber. When I asked Rupert Murdoch last week why News Corp. gave $1 million to the Chamber, he said he was just trying to be a good member.
