The Associated Press reports:

Republican Michele Bachmann is making her way across Iowa on her first trip as a presidential candidate.

She spent Saturday meeting people in restaurants and outdoor events as part of her four-day visit to the state with the nation's leadoff presidential caucuses.

The three-term representative from Minnesota is making her way through the weekend crowd at the Bluebird Diner in Iowa City, where supporters and the curious waited for more than 30 minutes for her blue campaign motor coach to arrive.

Aides say she was delayed because fans gathered outside the bus to meet and take pictures with the rising GOP figure.

Bachmann announced her candidacy Monday. She and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney led the Republican field in a recent poll of likely Iowa caucus participants.
