Ayotte Wins NH GOP Senate Primary

The Washington Post reports:

Former New Hampshire Attorney General Kelly Ayotte has won the Republican nomination for the Granite State's open Senate seat, according to the Secretary of State's office.

Updated results from the New Hampshire Secretary of State's office show Ayotte wound up with 53,044 votes, while attorney Ovide Lamontagne took 51,377.

Lamontagne announced just after 4 p.m. that he would concede and will not pursue a recount.

Ayotte will move on to face Rep. Paul Hodes (D-N.H.) in the general election. Polling suggests Ayotte will be favored in that race.

Ayotte's win is a boon to national Republicans who supported her candidacy and should provide them some solace after a tough primary night that included a win by tea party candidate Christine O'Donnell over their favored candidate in Delaware.
